Treasured Department Store Will Continue to Serve as Anchor after
Kenilworth’s $20 Million Renovation
Owings Mills, Md. (August 20, 2015) — Greenberg Gibbons announced today that its $20 million renovation plans for The Shops at Kenilworth will include revitalizing the space for its long-standing anchor, Stebbins Anderson. The store recently signed a new lease for a remodeled 20,425 square-foot space at the landmark shopping destination in Towson, Md.
Stebbins Anderson is a locally owned department store that has operated in the Baltimore area since 1867. It offers a one-stop shopping experience for a variety of merchandise, including unique housewares, gifts, décor, indoor/outdoor furniture and hardware. Currently on two levels of the property, the new store will be completely located on the first floor, and feature an updated storefront and interior fixtures while retaining its diverse selection of goods.
The store’s remodeling is a critical part of overall plans to renovate The Shops at Kenilworth, which is undergoing a transformation that includes updating the exterior and interior into a more contemporary and welcoming specialty shopping and community gathering place. Retailers will remain open and operational during the renovation, which will take place in four phases to minimize disruptions. Construction will begin in August 2015 with a target completion date of spring 2017.
“Stebbins Anderson is a regional icon with a special place in Baltimore’s retail history,” said Brian Gibbons, Chairman and CEO of Greenberg Gibbons. “We are excited to polish two community gems at once by updating the store and modernizing The Shops at Kenilworth.”
Greenberg Gibbons began managing The Shops at Kenilworth in July 2014 and assumed full ownership of the property in April 2015. For more information about the renovation and to follow progress of the project, visit: www.GGCommercial.com/KenilworthRenovations.
